A couple contributes $2 million to Little Rock’s Kimball neighborhood
Little Rock, Arkansas – A young couple is putting $2 million into the area where they grew up to honor Black History Month.
Gerald and Veronica Gregory claim that Little Rock mayor Frank Scott Jr.’s State of the City address served as inspiration for them to start a number of initiatives in the Kimball neighborhood through their company Songbyrd Enterprise.
They performed a groundbreaking ceremony for three new homes on Wednesday morning, and they have up to twelve more developments in the works. The pair claims they wish to revitalize the neighborhood where they now reside.
“What Veronica and I decided to do is really turn this, capture this sense of community that we felt when growing up here,” Gerald said, “We know it can happen.”
“Just a few years ago we lived, we resided right up on Gaines Street. And we knew at that point that we wanted to come back and make a difference in this area,” Veronica added.
The mayor and other local officials attended the groundbreaking with the Gregorys. In the Kimball neighborhood, this is the first brand-new construction in over a decade.
