Residents of a mobile home park in Pulaski County said they were taken by surprise after getting a 30-day notice to evacuate
Pulaski County, Arkansas – Residents of a mobile home park in Pulaski County claim that when the new owner gave them only 30 days to pack up and go, they were taken by surprise.
“After 22 years, you just feel like you’re going to be here until the end, but it wasn’t like that,” Lydia Lane Mobile Home Park resident Patricia Day said.
Day claimed on Wednesday that she and her family are currently in the process of packing up years worth of memories.
“It’s just overwhelming, I’m about in tears right now,” Day said.
A new owner acquired Lydia Lane Mobile Home Park in the previous year.
Management intended to refurbish the area, giving present tenants a notice to leave, according to a letter distributed to the residents.
“They taped it on our doors,” resident Toya Badgett said.
As permitted by existing Arkansas law, the landlord gave the tenants 30 days to vacate. Families claimed that they are still in a bind.
“30 days? Where can you find something in 30 days,” Day said.
“[You have to] buy land, on top of that then you got to get it moved,” Badgett said.
Badgett estimated that just transporting the mobile home would cost more than $2,000 in total.
“It’s putting a lot of stress on me, and I don’t need that on my heart right now,” Badgett said.
Day claimed that she remains in the dark, unsure of where she will call home in the future, while pillows are placed in boxes and boxes are brought to the front.
“We don’t know. We don’t know. We’re not really set in stone where we are going to stay,” Day said.
