The Central Arkansas Library System will undertake renovations and prepare for a new location
Arkansas – The Central Arkansas Library System is preparing for extensive upgrades. Tameka Lee from CALS spoke with Arkansas Today about upcoming renovations to the galleries and bookstore.
Collins said that the galleries and bookstore will close permanently on May 31. The structure will be closed for refurbishment from fall 2023 through early 2025. The galleries and bookshop will house “Mini Main,” which will include services such as a computer center and children and teen spaces.
The galleries feature art by Arkansas artists as well as shows showcasing Arkansas heritage. Arkansas artists’ books, jewelry, and other products are available at the bookstore.
Collins stated that there is still time to visit the Library Square galleries and bookstore before they close. The bookshop will hold a sale beginning Tuesday.
