Angry Dave’s Bicycles in North Little Rock is set to close its doors after 11 years of operation
North Little Rock, Arkansas – David Larson, owner of Angry Dave’s Bicycles, has announced that after 11 years of fulfilling his passion, the shop will be closing its doors for good at the end of this month.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Angry Dave’s experienced a surge in business; however, as pandemic numbers declined and individuals returned to their workplaces, the pace of business began to slow.
“I was aware that it wouldn’t be a permanent situation, but it seems the market was not, as they continued to place orders repeatedly,” Larson stated.
Larson noted that while the customer count decreased, the quantity of bikes being delivered to his shop by the brands remained unchanged.
He stated that these well-known brands had developed their own approach to address the challenges posed by the post-pandemic business landscape.
“They’ve moved to a direct-to-consumer model online, offering their product at the same price I paid for it at retail,” Larson stated. “Now I have to find a way to measure up to that.”
Katie Denette came across the recent news about the shop’s closure on Facebook. She expressed that the in-person experience she cherishes is becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
“I’ve been struggling to locate local options and places to get a bike, so I felt a bit let down by that,” Denette expressed.
Larson expressed his disappointment but also conveyed gratitude for the journey this business has provided him.
“I’m truly touched to realize that I’ve created something that holds significant value for many,” Larson expressed.
Larson announced his intention to finalize the closure on December 31, expressing hope that all the bikes will be sold by that date.
He expressed his desire to keep the Angry Dave’s name, highlighting his reputation for exceptional wheel-building skills.
