Bismarck, Arkansas – Following three separate forest fires that started on Friday, residents of Bismarck are still coping with the damage.

The Bismarck Fire Protection Association stated on Facebook on Saturday that the fire had been put out, but it flared up again on Sunday.

It doesn’t take much, particularly in a field of hay or something similar, since this was kind of purposefully begun. Fire Chief Duke Evans stated, “It doesn’t take long for it to catch fire and just start running across there.”

In order to prevent the fire from spreading, the Arkansas Forestry Department also provided assistance by chopping lines between the trees.

These fires were also extinguished with assistance from Hot Spring County Dispatch and firefighters from the New Deroche Fire Department. Adrienne Walsh and other local homeowners also contributed.

On Monday morning, Walsh and her companion saw flare-ups that were still happening while riding their horses behind her home’s pasture.

Walsh stated, “We were just picking up dirt and applying it to the burning areas, the stumps, and other similar things.”

Evans stated that there ought to be no residual smoke or flames from these fires.
