Atkins, Arkansas – The Razorback sign that says “Go Hogs Go” has been visible by supporters traveling along Interstate 40 for almost 60 years. However, the University of Arkansas is declaring “no hogs no” if the city of Atkins cannot upgrade the sign.

Gary Childress says he remembers when the sign was originally put up and knows how urgently it needs to be updated.

“They want it up to their standards; they don’t want a scruffy, old sign up there representing the university,” Childress stated.

A contract was signed between the People for Better Atkins and the University of Arkansas Athletics specifying that the image can only be used exactly as it is and cannot be altered for any other purpose without permission.

Louis Schmoll claims to have had conversations with university administrators.

Schmoll stated, “They sent me an agreement that if we would refurbish it, we can continue on with it when I told them what we were trying to do.”

They have already raised $11,000 of their target of over $20,000.

Schmoll stated, “We want people to be involved in the game so that it becomes a part of them.”
They hope that the sign would inspire people to donate and feel proud of themselves.

Childress stated, “We want kids to say, ‘Hey, I helped put that up the last time let me help this time,’ 20 years from now.”
