Conway, Arkansas – A Conway mother is back at home with her one-year-old daughter for the first time after being in the hospital for three months.

Kaneshia Jones said her child suffered multiple bruises to her body after alleged child abuse from her ex-boyfriend. She said her daughter, Kamari, has been fighting for her life at Arkansas Children’s Hospital since August. Kaneshia said the community’s support has helped while her daughter was in the hospital.

“I can’t thank the people of Conway enough for the money they sent, for the prayers they sent for my little girl. I can’t thank no one enough for the support they’ve given me, to allow me to be at the hospital the whole 92 days,” Kaneshia said.

Kaneshia said on August 11 she left her daughter with her then-boyfriend, 23-year-old Kane White, while she picked up a friend from work. She said when she came back White said Kamari fell off the bed and was not breathing correctly. She also said the medical staff at Arkansas Children’s Hospital found bruises to Kamari’s back, ears, and found lacerations on her liver.

According to Faulkner County jail records, White was booked and charged with first-degree domestic battery.

Kaneshia said she doesn’t know what happened the night she left her daughter with White, but she hopes one day he can tell her in his own words.

“If it’s not the truth I want I don’t know if I can handle that, but I want her to know the truth of what happened to her.” Kaneshia said her other two children are excited to have Kamari home so they can spend time with their sister. She said this is a journey she wasn’t sure would end in a positive way.

“I definitely look at her like she’s a warrior, because there are not many adults that can bounce back from this, and I definitely don’t like I could have,” Kaneshia said.

Kaneshia said Kamari is having difficulty with her vision, eating through a feeding tube, and is receiving other medical treatment. She said she hopes things will get better during her physical therapy.

White is still being held in the Faulkner County jail on a $250,000 bond.
