Mom from Little Rock begs for her son’s justice following his murder
Little Rock, Arkansas – A few weeks after turning 21, Dejon Nelms, the youngest of five children, was shot and died in December.
“Dejon was hilarious,” Dejon’s mother Unitie Nelms said. “Dejon was the life of the party. He was our baby.”
He was a genuinely loving momma’s son, according to Unitie Nelms.
Dejon Nelms and Modesti Allimon were shot and died on December 20 at approximately 8:00 p.m. on West 14th Street in Little Rock.
Suspects or people of interest have not yet been named in connection with the killings.
“In my opinion, I think it was someone that knew them because why would they do that, especially to do that to Modesti,” Unitie Nelms said. “The way they did them, they did it to the point that no one could identify them.”
Unitie Nelms is working to ensure that her son’s name stays unique, as her family established Deijon’s Gift to Forgiveness, a nonprofit organization, in his memory to support others experiencing similar bereavement.
“For God to forgive me and anybody I love, I must have forgiveness,” Unitie Nelms said. “But please, the only way you will get forgiveness is by doing the right thing by giving our family some closure.”
When we inquired about any changes in this case, the Little Rock Police Department informed us that no new information had been made public.
The police department’s number to report any information is (501) 371-4829.
