Legislators honor Craig O’Neill for his decades-long career in radio and television
Little Rock, Arkansas – The Senate declared that a resolution honoring Craig O’Neill for his many years of experience in radio and television broadcasting had been passed.
Before working in broadcasting and advertising sales at KARN in Little Rock in 1972, O’Neill started his radio career in Jonesboro at KTBM.
Before joining the TV team in January 2000 as Sports Director, he spent more than twenty years working in radio at numerous different stations. After moving to primetime news anchoring, he did so around eight years later.
Throughout his illustrious television career, he has won the esteemed Edward R. Murrow Award and a regional EMMY. For his more than fifty years in broadcasting, he was accepted into the NATAS Mid-America Gold Circle in 2023.
Even throughout the pandemic, Craig O’Neill has appeared on Ellen DeGeneres Show, had an interview with music legend Dolly Parton, led election coverage with to his deep understanding of Arkansas politics, and sent out encouraging messages from his kitchen table.
Additionally, he has served as the emcee of more than 9,000 charitable events, raising over $40 million for Arkansas communities.
He worked in radio and television for more than 50 years; his final TV broadcast was on December 29, 2023, at 10:00 p.m.
Even though O’Neill is no longer on television, his influence and passion project—reading to youngsters in Arkansas and inspiring them to become lifelong readers—will endure.
