Police identify couple found dead in home
JONESBORO, Ark. – Jonesboro Police have identified a couple found dead in their home.
According to a news release from the Jonesboro Police Department, a 32-year-old man reported finding the couple around 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, at their home in the 3200-block of Turtle Creek Road.
The man told investigators he went to check on his in-laws when he found them dead in their home of apparent gunshot wounds.
Police later identified the pair as 65-year-old Jerry Lamb and his wife, 63-year-old Deborah Lamb.
According to the initial incident report, it appeared Lamb shot his wife before turning the gun on himself.
Region 8 News talked with nearby neighbors on Turtle Creek Road. Some of them saw police cars out, but they didn’t know how serious the incident was.
Gary Gestring lived next door to the Lamb family for the past 15 years. He says he didn’t have many interactions with the Lamb family, but he would see them out in the yard or out fishing.
“You know, I feel sad about it,” Gestring said. “Whatever the circumstances, they were good neighbors in the sense that nobody bothers anybody just see each other out working in the yard.”
Gestring says he’s never seen anything like this before in the neighborhood. He says this is just an unexpected and unfortunate situation.
No other suspects are being sought at this time.
According to a police spokesperson, this is the city’s first homicide of the year.
Region 8 News will continue to track this story and provide updates as they become available.
