Little Rock police officer formally charged with sexual assault for January incident, report

Little Rock, Arkansas – Little Rock police officer has been formally charged with sexual assault for an incident that took place in January.

The Police Department announced on Tuesday that Alexander Louis Sanders is facing second degree sexual assault charges after woman accused him for the incident that took place on January 1st. The woman reported the incident four days later.

Sanders was put on administrative leave right after the report. The investigation was performed by Pulaski County prosecutors who decided to press charges.

Officer Sanders was part of the police department since August 2019. He was arrested and jailed on Tuesday.

Arkansas law defines second-degree sexual assault, in part, as sexual contact with another person by “forcible compulsion” or sexual contact with another person who is incapable of consent because he or she is physically helpless or mentally incapacitated.
