Minority Health Commission’s 7th Biennial Health Summit to focus on mental health
On Friday, April 22nd from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., The Arkansas Minority Health Commission’s 7th Biennial Health Summit will explore mental health challenges in communities of color and the types of assistance and treatments available at Four Points Sheraton in Little Rock.
This year’s theme is, “Putting ‘Me’ In Mental Health – Today, Tomorrow, and Always.” The keynote speaker will be a television personality, chef, and author, Gina Neely.
Three awards will be presented at the summit:
Vanessa E. Davis Change Agent for Minority Health Award – Established in honor of the life, work, and legacy of Commissioner Vanessa E. Davis, AMHC presents this award to an individual or group for their impactful work in supporting minority health initiatives within their communities.
Governor’s Policy Award – In partnership with the Governor, AMHC honors an individual who has had a significant impact on the health and healthcare of minority Arkansans through public policy.
Dr. Joycelyn Elders Minority Health Pioneer Award – Established in honor of the AMHC founding Director, former Director of the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH), and the 15th Surgeon General of the United States. AMHC honors an individual who has made a significant impact on the health and healthcare of minority Arkansans through community impact and programming.
