The Islamic Center of Little Rock organizes a meal-packing program to combat world hunger
Little Rock, Arkansas – On Saturday, volunteers gathered in the Capital City to support those who are suffering from hunger all over the world.
Together with students from Little Rock’s Huda Academy, the nonprofit Islamic Relief USA organized the meal packing event at the Islamic Center of Little Rock.
The goal, according to the organizers, is to mitigate the detrimental effects of rising food prices and food insecurity.
“We contacted Islamic Relief to do it, a partnership between us and them,” volunteer Amrah Masud said. “We want to involve our youth, our adults too, so its parents, students, admins, teachers, everyone is involved.”
80 volunteers participated in the three-hour activity. Twenty thousand lunches in all were prepared.
