City intends to establish an overlay district in downtown
Paragould, Arkansas – The creation of an overlay district in the downtown area is being considered as a city ordinance in Paragould.
The ordinance would permit housing in the historic and downtown business districts.
The intent of the overlay district would be to “promote quality redevelopment of the general downtown while respecting the historical character of the downtown area,” according to the ordinance.
The city voted to improve the language used in the appeals process at its meeting on August 28, according to Miranda Reynolds of Main Street Paragould, and they intend to have the revisions ready before the next meeting.
On September 25, the city is anticipated to discuss the ordinance once more.
