An exhibit at the State Capitol honors 100 years of Arkansas State Parks

Little Rock, Arkansas – A new exhibit honoring 100 years of Arkansas State Parks opened its doors at the State Capitol on Monday, according to John Thurston, secretary of state of Arkansas.
The Arkansas State Park system, which now consists of 52 parks and more than 55,000 acres of property, was first established in 1923.
Living in the Natural State and getting to see its beauty, according to Thurston, is definitely a treasure.
“As an avid outdoorsman, I hope this exhibit will encourage more people to get out and enjoy what a treasure we have in our state parks,” Thurston said. “It is truly a gift to live in The Natural State and enjoy its beauty.”
Thurston noted in the statement that a state park is within an hour’s drive from any location in Arkansas. Everyone may enjoy the mountain views, hiking, boating, fishing, and bird watching, among other activities.
On August 9, the State Capitol’s first-floor galleries will host a showing of the Arkansas State Parks Centennial Exhibition.
