Arkansas DHS is getting ready for the possibility of the Public Health Emergency ending

Little Rock, Arkansas – The Arkansas Department of Human Services spoke with media at a pen and pad event Friday morning discussing the possibility of an end to the COVID Public Health Emergency put in place Jan. 2020 and how it would affect those on Medicaid.
According to the ADH, the federal government should be notifying states soon as to whether or not the Public Health Emergency will end in January.
If the federal government decided to let PHE expire, they have to notify states 60 prior.
If it does, the ADH will have to remove ineligible clients from Medicaid.
“The United States remains in a COVID-19 Public Health Emergency declared by the Federal Government, said Mark White, secretary of Arkansas DHS. “One of the consequences of the public health emergency is that when a client signs up for Medicaid, even if they later become ineligible, we must leave them enrolled in Medicaid.”
