Arkansas man fatally shot by home intruder; search for suspect underway

LITTLE ROCK — Authorities on Sunday were searching for a man who broke into an Arkansas home and fatally shot a man, KATV content partner 40/29 News reported.
It happened about 5:30 a.m. in Hackett, a small city in the northwest part of the state near the Arkansas-Oklahoma state line. Witnesses said a man kicked in the front door of a home on Plum Street and hit a man with a baseball bat.
The intruder then went upstairs to a bedroom and shot a man 5-6 times, killing him. The intruder fled before authorities arrived.
The Sebastian County sheriff’s office reported that the victim was 34 years old. His identity was not immediately released.
Four other people in the home were not injured.
No arrests had been reported Sunday afternoon.
