Arkansas man was given a 25-year sentence for seducing a teenager via the Badoo dating app
Little Rock, Arkansas – An Arkansas man who lured a youngster online to participate in sexual activities was given a 25-year prison sentence.
According to court records, 36-year-old Jonathan Tyrell Haney persuaded a 12-year-old Ashley County girl to meet with him for sex through the dating app “Badoo.”
The girl vanished from her mother’s house in April 2021 and turned up by herself the following day at a gas station in Columbia County, according to a press statement from the Western District of Arkansas United States Attorney’s Office.
The victim’s clothing had Haney’s DNA, according to the authorities. Haney was captured that same day in the vicinity of Sulphur Springs, Texas.
The punishment was announced by Chief United States District Judge Susan O. Hickey.
Following his sentencing, Haney must register as a sex offender and will be under the supervision of the US Probation Office for the next 20 years.
The matter was looked into by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, the Crossett, Arkansas, and Magnolia, Arkansas police departments.
