Bluegrass band coming to Northeast Arkansas

Paragould, Arkansas – Northeast Arkansas is receiving the bluegrass group Breaking Grass.

On August 28 at 7 p.m., the event will take place at the Collins Theatre in Paragould, which is located at 120 West Emerson Street.

The concert is a part of KASU 91.9 FM’s Bluegrass Monday music series.

This five-piece Mississippi-based bluegrass group has been performing together for 16 years. The band is currently on tour in support of “Somewhere Beyond,” their sixth studio album, which is available through the Mountain Fever record label.

Breaking Grass is known for their upbeat live performances of their own compositions performed in a manner that blends classic bluegrass sounds with rock, gospel, country, and soul music influences.

Including the State of Mississippi Bluegrass Band Competition, the Athens Old Time Fiddler’s Band Competition, and the Uncle Dave Macon Days Competition, the band has won a number of bluegrass band competitions.

Cody Farrar plays guitar and sings lead for the band. Farrar also contributes to a number of the band’s CDs and live performances.

Award-winning fiddler Tyler White performs with the ensemble. Zach Wooten plays mandolin, Jody Elmore plays banjo, and Britt Sheffield plays bass in the group.

The concert’s seating is first-come, first-served. The theater’s doors will open at six o’clock.

A non-profit initiative of KASU-FM, the Bluegrass Monday concert series offers music lovers an excellent and reasonably priced evening of entertainment.

The performers receive all ticket sales revenue as payment for their labor and skills. Every month on the fourth Monday night, these concerts are held.
