Gov. Sanders celebrates Black History Month by meeting with African American business leaders

Little Rock, Arkansas – Wednesday was Black History Month, and Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders met with African American business leaders to “reaffirm her commitment to make Arkansas one of the top places in the nation to start and grow a business.”
The governor met with numerous Black business leaders from across the state, Secretary of Transformation and Shared Services Joseph Wood, and Secretary of Labor and Licensing Daryl Bassett, according to Sanders spokesperson Alexa Henning.
“The Governor thanked the group for their leadership in growing Arkansas’ economy, and shared her vision to build a skilled, qualified workforce through her new Career Ready Pathways program in Arkansas LEARNS that will partner local businesses with high schools to prepare students for the workforce,” Henning said in a statement.
She added that Sanders reaffirmed her commitment to reducing the size and reach of government in order to support the growth of a business.
“The business leaders expressed their concerns about inflation and higher interest rates hindering their ability to grow and expand, as well as their desire to help mentor other business owners along a path to success,” Henning said.
