Jonesboro man who traveled to have sex with a 14-year-old is still facing charges in his trial

Little Rock, Arkansas – A Jonesboro man who is allegedly responsible for traveling to Greene County to pick up a 14-year-old girl for sex has had his motion, plea day, and trial date rescheduled.

According to court records, Cody Burnett (who was 30 at the time of his arrest) had his motion and plea hearing postponed for Friday, February 17, while his jury trial was shifted to Monday, March 6.

“Mr. Burnett was made aware of the victim’s age before engaging with her but still came into Greene County to pick her up and engage in sexual intercourse with her,” Lt. Ashley Worcester with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department said.

Before they actually met, Burnett and the adolescent allegedly exchanged sexually graphic videos and images.

Judge Dan Stidham of the district court determined there was enough evidence to charge Burnett in 2021 with the following offenses: Internet stalking of a kid, sexual assault in the fourth degree, sexual activity with children for publication in a visual or printed medium, transportation of minors for unlawful sexual activity.
