North Little Rock’s cooling facility is officially open
North Little Rock, Arkansas – As the triple-digit temperatures persist, cooling centers in central Arkansas are still open during the warmest times of the day.
People are encouraged to congregate at the center at 2700 Willow Street in North Little Rock.
According to Rodney Ellis of the North Little Rock Cooling Center, those in need can access snacks, water, meals, televisions, and other amenities.
“We have snacks, we have chips, bottled water, granola bars, a comfortable area,” Ellis said. “We also have a tv area, they can watch the news, and keep up with current events, we also have cots if they want to come in and get a rest.”
According to Ellis, between 8 and 15 people used the cooling facility throughout the hottest part of the recent days.
