Razorbacks defeat Notre Dame to advance to the regional championship
Fayetteville, Arkansas – After defeating Notre Dame 5-0 on Saturday night, the Arkansas softball team advanced to the Fayetteville Regional championship game. To progress, the Hogs must defeat Oregon twice on Sunday.
For the first time in the event, Arkansas was the host team. In the first inning, Hannah Gammill drew a bases-loaded walk to put the Hogs on the board.
With an RBI single with two outs in the second, Raigan Kramer increased the lead to two.
With a runner in scoring position in the second and making her second start of the day, Chenice Delce would strike out three straight batters.
Rylin Hedgecock would hit a three-run home run in the top of the eighth to put the game beyond doubt. The Hogs went into the bottom of the inning with a 5-0 advantage.
With only three hits allowed, Delce would go the distance and shut out Notre Dame. For the third year in a row, Arkansas progressed to the regional championship game.
The game between Arkansas and Oregon is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. on Sunday. 35 minutes later, if the Razorbacks can win the first game, the two teams will play one last game.
