Saturday storms with 60 mph destroyed power lines, trees, and caused flash floods in West Arkansas

Little Rock, Arkansas – On Saturday, violent thunderstorms swept through Northwest Arkansas and down to the River Valley area.

In Fort Smith and Lavaca, there were reports of flash flooding, felled trees and powerlines, and damage to a metal roof in Van Buren.

The storms were incredibly powerful, with some areas experiencing gusts of more than 60 miles per hour.

On Saturday, about 4,000 individuals in the River Valley area were without electricity; as of Sunday morning, only about 400 still are.

According to officials, lightning damage is to blame, and OG&E technicians are investigating the problem to see what is causing the outages.

According to the OG&E website, full restoration is anticipated by 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
