The opening basketball doubleheader for the Ohio Valley Conference moved because of a ruptured water coil
Little Rock, Arkansas – As a result of a broken water coil at Jack Stephens Center, the Little Rock Trojans’ men’s and women’s Ohio Valley Conference basketball doubleheader will be moved to Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock.
It was announced in a press release that the freezing temperatures in the Little Rock area caused the water coil to rupture in the Jack Stephens Center, which led to Joe Foley Court being flooded with water. The cause of the rupture was attributed to the freezing temperatures.
According to the press release, the decision was made to move the games to the Simmons Bank Arena while crews continue to dry the court and evaluate its status for use in upcoming games.
The women’s games will continue to begin at 5 p.m., and the men’s games will start at 7:30 p.m.
Doors open at 4:00 p.m. On Thursday, tickets will only be available for purchase at the box office located within the Simmons Bank Arena.
Tickets for general admission cost $10 each.
“I’m very appreciative of Simmons Bank Arena for their willingness to work with us on such short notice, especially over a holiday weekend,” said Director of Athletics George Lee. “This situation has posed a unique challenge and I’m grateful for their flexibility and assistance to help us keep our OVC opening doubleheader in Central Arkansas.”
Thursday will be the only day that season tickets will be valid for admission, and all other seats will be general admission.
In the coming days, additional details concerning parking as well as general logistical information surrounding the game will be made available to the public.
