The superintendent of the Little Rock School District has announced his resignation

Little Rock, Arkansas – Superintendent of the Little Rock School District Dr. Jermall Wright tendered his resignation on Thursday afternoon.

In a letter to the LRSD school board, he submitted his resignation and expressed gratitude for their support in having him as the district’s superintendent. In May 2022, he was brought on board to take over for departing former superintendent Michael Poore.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to work alongside the board and staff to usher in significant changes in district operations all geared toward student outcomes,” Wright wrote in his letter.

In addition, Dr. Wright discussed how much he has changed since accepting the job and expressed his gratitude for the chance.

“It is critical that the LRSD Board of Education employ a superintendent whose leadership style, priorities, and core values align with the direction and actions of the school board,” Wright stated. “This is the only way the LRSD can flourish.”

The Little Rock School District issued a statement in reaction to the resignation, stating that they will shortly provide details on the following phases of the transition plan.

A board member clarified that Dr. Wright will be employed by LRSD for the foreseeable future and that the date of his departure has not yet been set.

They will not, however, be making any more remarks at this time.

Regarding his resignation, Dr. Wright provided us with a statement in which he clarified that he did not leave to take a post elsewhere.

“I’m taking time to consider where and how I can make the most impact,” he stated.
