To give back to the community, New Life Church Conway organizes a return-to-school celebration

Conway. Arkansas – A back-to-school event was held on Saturday morning by New Life Church in Conway, as kids in Arkansas get ready to return to class shortly.

The community turned out in large numbers as they distributed free shoes, bags, and haircuts. Hundreds of people had gathered outside prior to the event, which was organized by the church in association with other local organizations.

The Outreach Pastor for all 18 of NLC’s Arkansas locations, Quentin Washispack, stated, “We had people lining up here an hour before it started.” “That indicates to me that there was a great deal of need.”

A large number of those attendees traveled from outside of Conway. Kelly Harper, a Perry County resident with a kid starting second grade, was one of them.

Many people in the vicinity, she claimed, were blessed by the experience.

Harper stated, “Some people can’t afford, you know, kid haircuts, backpacks, or shoes.” And it’s fantastic for all of us.

Hunter Bezet, the pastor of the NLC Campus, stated that the church has been organizing this event for many years. Since he is aware that the beginning of a new school year can be financially taxing for some, his church felt compelled to step in and cover the shortfall.

“You don’t really know where to go when you don’t know what the solution is or how to get help,” Bezet added. And we just tried our hardest to get out there in the community and let people know that this is a place they can come to for that type of assistance when they need it.”

According to Washispack, the church intends to hold comparable activities later in the year, such as providing free toys for Christmas and free food for Thanksgiving.

One of the main objectives of the church is giving.

“Be hands and feet of Jesus in the community where there’s a need,” Bezet added, “And not just servicing our people, but servicing the community as Jesus did.”

On Monday, August 19, 2024, Conway Public Schools students will resume their classes.
