UAMS mental health call line experiencing large number of calls during holiday season
Little Rock, Arkansas – In order to provide mental health services to Arkansans, UAMS operates a 24-hour, 7-day-per-week call line that receives a lot of calls throughout the Christmas season.
The treatment program offered by UAMS to anyone having mental health issues is called AR ConnectNow.
A mental health specialist at UAMS named Isis Pettway described how reachable the support line was.
“No insurance required. If you’ve got a device, a tablet or a phone that allows you video access – we can see you and help you with therapeutic services,” Pettway said.
According to representatives from AR ConnectNow and UAMS, this time of year brings a lot of calls.
People who call contend with SAD as well as other mental health issues like stress, anxiety, or generalized sadness.
It is crucial to talk to someone while experiencing depression, according to Heather Isom, a woman from central Arkansas who has battled the illness for many years.
“Depression is very real – call and talk to someone,” Isom said. “When you have kids and you’re not with their father or mother then you’re alone on Christmas.”
Christmas and any other day that is difficult for anyone’s mental health can benefit from AR ConnectNow.
The contact number is 800-482-9921 or 501-526-3563. Their website is located at Psychiatry.UAMS.edu.
