Arkansas’s gas prices increased by 11 cents last week
Little Rock, Arkansas – According to AAA, over the previous week, the average statewide price of $3.18 for a gallon of unleaded gas in Arkansas increased by 11 cents.
Compared to this day last year, the price has increased by 14 cents.
With an average price of $3.27, residents of Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers pay the highest of all the major metropolitan areas in the state. At the other end of the spectrum, Pine Bluff residents spend the least, on average $3.11.
The average price throughout the country has surged to $3.53, a whopping 12 cents higher than it was on the same day last year.
According to a survey by AAA, the main causes of the price increases include refineries switching to summer-blend fuel, seasonal travel, and growing crude oil prices.
Prices are predicted to increase by a further 5 to 20 cents over the next few weeks as the transition to a more expensive summer-blend fuel proceeds.
“This is the time of year when gas prices usually start to increase thanks to seasonal demand and the switchover to summer blend fuel,” said AAA spokesperson Nick Chabarria. “In addition, crude oil, the main ingredient in gas, is getting more expensive.”
Arkansas continues to have the sixth-lowest gas prices in the country.
