Skeletal bones and a sunken discovered in Lake Hamilton

Garland County, Arkansas – In the bottom of Lake Hamilton, deputies from the Garland County Sheriff’s Office discovered an automobile with skeletal remains that were connected to a 15-year-old missing person case.

According to Garland County deputies, a local fisherman called them on February 22 to report what may have been a submerged automobile in Lake Hamilton. Deputies and representatives from Arkansas Game and Wildlife confirmed an automobile was at the bottom of the lake when they arrived on February 28.

On Mar. 3, authorities and divers discovered skeletal remains inside the sunken automobile. On March 4, the responding authorities succeeded in raising the automobile out of the sea.

The 2003 Grey Ford Escape was the one from which the remains were retrieved by the investigators. They said that after utilizing the car’s VIN to eventually identify it, they learned that it was linked to a missing person complaint submitted to the Hot Springs Police Department in February 2008.

The Garland County Sheriff’s Office and the Hot Springs Police Department are collaborating on the investigation, according to officials. The Arkansas State Crime Lab received the remains.

Garland County Investigation Division at 501-622-2967 is looking for anyone with information on the incident.
