A plane crashed within a few feet from a major highway
Batesville, Arkansas – On Tuesday night in Batesville, a plane crashed.
Sheriff Shawn Stephens of Independence County verified the collision. He declared that the crash would be handled by the Batesville Police Department.
Viewer Kristina K Praught sent in pictures of the wreckage, and according to Batesville Police Chief Alan Cockrill, there were multiple persons on board the aircraft when it crashed, including two pilots. The plane can be seen in the pictures flying only a few feet over Batesville’s Highway 167.
The flight was scheduled to depart from Fayetteville, Arkansas, at 7:40 p.m., and arrive there at 8:08 p.m., according to Flight Aware.
It arrived in Batesville around 8:40 a.m. on Tuesday after departing from Fayettville at 8:15 a.m. The flight left Batesville at 5:57 p.m. with a scheduled arrival time of 7:10 p.m., and 20 minutes later it flew to Waterloo, Iowa, where it landed at 10:19 a.m.
The cause of the plane crash is unclear.
Both pilots were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds, according to Chief Cockrill.
In response to the question of how many people were on board, Cockrill replied they currently don’t know the precise number.
The Federal Aviation Administration is currently looking into the crash.
