A proud presidential award is given to a teacher at Little Rock Central High School

Little Rock, Arkansas – The prestigious Prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) was chosen to go to a teacher at Little Rock Central High School.
In addition to the $10,000 prize from the National Science Foundation and the chance to attend an award ceremony in Washington, D.C., Mary Maris will also get a signed certificate from President Joe Biden.
Teachers who have made significant contributions to STEM education are recognized by the PAEMST program.
In addition to managing the building and development of Central High School’s new scientific wing, Maris has held the position of Dean of the Scientific Department. In 2017, she received the title of Teacher of the Year from the Little Rock School District.
Nancy Rousseau, principal of Little Rock Central High School, stated, “Dr. Maris is a source of great pride for the Central High School family.” “Her enthusiasm for teaching science and her capacity to motivate her students are prime examples of what it means to be an exceptional teacher at our school.”
