Arkansas State University System names interim president
Little Rock, Arkansas – Dr. Robin Myers has been named the interim system president of Arkansas State University by the Board of Trustees, which voted on Friday.
On January 15, Myers, who now serves as ASU-Mountain Home’s chancellor emeritus, will take over. After serving as ASU-Mountain Home’s chancellor for 11 years, he retired in July.
The action comes after ASU System President Chuck Welch announced on November 14 that he will step down after almost 13 years in office.
The news announcement on Friday states that Myers will not be running for the permanent post.
Little Rock trustee Price Gardner announced that the board will start its search in January and aim to choose a new president by May.
“We will be reviewing search firm options in the next two weeks,” Gardner said. “It’s an attractive position, and we expect to have a quality pool of candidates. We’re not looking for someone to make significant changes or overhaul things. We have one of the strongest system staffs and group of chancellors in the country. We’re hiring from a position of strength and don’t want to lose momentum.”
