Data breach affecting vehicle registration
Jonesboro, Arkansas – For Arkansas drivers, a different kind of accident is generating major problems.
Drivers trying to renew their tags are being hindered by a data hack that occurred in November and affected 45 counties throughout the state.
The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration automatically retrieve a person’s assessment and property tax data from the county website when renewing a car registration online.
Nevertheless, notifications are being sent to residents here in Northeast Arkansas and throughout the state that they have not yet assessed “because the state website and 45 county assessor’s websites are not on speaking terms.”
