Fire causes Highway 67 closure

Jackson County, Arkansas – On Saturday afternoon, officials closed lanes on Highway 67 due to a field fire that was producing a lot of smoke.
According to Jackson County Sheriff Jason Tubbs, the wind had allowed a farmers fire to develop and even jump the highway median on Highway 67 between mile markers 87 in the northbound direction and 95 in the southbound direction near Newport.
Firefighting personnel battled the blaze for more than an hour.
Later, the traffic resumed after the fire was put out.
