Gatorade Arkansas Boys Soccer Player of the Year award goes to Conway high school student
Conway, Arkansas – In an announcement on Friday, Gatorade said this year’s Gatorade Arkansas Boys Soccer Player of the Year award goes to Conway high school student.
The Conway teenager Jacob Chalk is only the fourth Conway student to ever receive the player of the year award.
According to Gatorade, the award not only recognizes the athletic excellence, but also exemplary character on and off the pitch and academic achievement.
Winning this award means that Chalk is now finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year award. This award will be announced later this month.
The young boy scored a total of 11 goals in the past season and passed for assists. Meanwhile, he raised funds to benefit the homeless and has volunteered on behalf of youth soccer programs. Chalk also took part of numerous food, clothing and book donations in the past months.
“Jacob Chalk really makes Conway go,” said Ron Teat, head coach at Valley View High. “He’s a game-changer with the speed to recover and defend, and when he gets in on the attack, he’s the most dangerous guy on the field with the ball at his feet.”
Officials say Chalk has maintained a 3.24 GPA.
