Georgia is receiving MREs for hurricane victims from an Arkansas truck firm
Little Rock, Arkansas – Food and more labor are being sent to Georgia by Beebe-based Stallion Transportation Group to assist with the storm’s aftermath.
The office of Governor Sarah Huckabee Sander called Butch Rice, the CEO of Stallion Transportation Group, on Wednesday.
One of Sanders’ semi-trucks was intended to be sent to the epicenter of Hurricane Helene’s devastation.
We have a list of people who wanted to offer to help when you call a driver and say, “Hey, we need you to go straight into a hurricane relief area,” Rice added.
There were 28 pallets of meals-ready-to-eat, or MREs, inside the trailer. A driver from Fort Chaffey in Fort Smith picked up the load, and another drove it straight to the towns that required it.
“The individuals who were going to utilize them were actually receiving them from the National Guard. Or take them to individuals who didn’t have access to a road in the Georgian mountains,” Rice stated.
Working with Stallion Transportation Group, the Arkansas National Guard has established operations through the governor’s offices in both states. all working together to provide support to a community that is in need.
Rice remarked, “So, knowing that we helped that part was really heartwarming.”
