Habitat for Humanity helps an Arkansas father and son find their forever home following the tornado damage on March 31

North Little Rock, Arkansas – The apartment of Will and Jalen Piggee was devastated by the tornado that passed across central Arkansas on March 31, while they were residents in the Sturbridge neighborhood.

In the hopes that their apartment would be renovated again, they relocated out of the houses of friends and family.

Will Piggee stated, “Those apartments were mostly totally damaged that whole area, and they’re still rebuilding that area as of today.”

On December 16, 2021, Will and Jalen were officially joined as a family after Will adopted Jalen. After Jalen moved in and out of foster care, it was barely three months until they went before the judge to be adopted.

Not only was the tornado terrifying, but Will, a single father, also felt bad that he wasn’t able to do more for Jalen in the months that followed.

“In my thoughts, but I never told him—here we go again with this happening, just like he was used to from constantly going back and forth between homes,” Will Piggee remarked.

That is until Will became aware of Habitat for Humanity through the Single Parent Scholarship program in Arkansas.

Will Piggee stated, “No, without Habitat for Humanity, I would have never been a homeowner.”
His son was the driving force behind his application. Jalen supported his father during the construction of their Habitat for Humanity home as well as while he pursued his bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

Jalen Piggee remarked, “To be here in this house today is a blessing.”

Will Piggee feels that they are in their forever home and that “God always had a perfect plan.”
