Homeless man arrested after elderly Brinkley woman found dead in apartment

Brinkley, Arkansas – After a 73-year-old Brinkley lady was discovered dead inside her apartment on Friday, Arkansas State Police arrested a homeless man on capital murder, aggravated robbery, and burglary charges.
According to reports, officers from the Brinkley Police Department were summoned to the Sunset Apartments on Thursday just before 3 a.m. for a reported break-in.
Shirley Bodkins, a Brinkley lady, was discovered dead inside her apartment on Friday afternoon by family members.
Brinkley police asked Arkansas State Police for assistance with their investigation, which prompted them to launch a search for Juwan Swanigan, 29.
Swanigan was apprehended and charged with Ms. Bodkins’ murder on Saturday by state police and Brinkley police officers.
