In September, the steam locomotive named “Big Boy” is returning to Arkansas
Little Rock, Arkansas – The largest steam locomotive in the world, Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014, is making a return trip to Arkansas as part of the “Heartland of America Tour.”
On August 28, 2024, the locomotive leaves for an eight-week trip that begins in Cheyenne, Wyoming. After that, it will pass through nine more states: Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas.
In September, Big Boy No. 4014, the lone surviving Big Boy out of the eight, will return to the Natural State.
It will spend a few days in Arkansas before moving on to Texas, where it will be placed next.

• Brinkley, Arkansas (Central Delta Depot Museum) | Arrival 12:15 p.m. | Departure 12:45 p.m.
• Pine Bluff, Arkansas (Pine Bluff Museum Depot) | Arrival 3:00 p.m. | Departure 3:30 p.m.
Sunday, September 15, 2024:
• North Little Rock, Arkansas (Union Pacific Railroad) | Public viewing from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Monday, September 16, 2024:
North Little Rock, Arkansas (8:00 a.m. departure) to Texarkana, Arkansas
• Kingsland, Arkansas (Maple St. Crossing) | Arrival 11:45 a.m. | Departure 12:15 p.m.
From this point, the locomotive then makes its way to Dallas, Texas on the morning of September 17, 2024.
