More than $32 million will be given to Arkansas by the federal government to upgrade highways; Little Rock will receive $25 million
Little Rock, Arkansas – The federal government is providing Arkansas with over $32 million in money to upgrade the state’s roads.
Arkansas will get $32,375,304 in grant money as part of the $1 billion that was included in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that was enacted by the Biden administration, according to announcements made by USDOT officials on Thursday.
Communities can develop and carry out programs to reduce traffic fatalities with grant money from the Safe Streets and Roads for All program.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg stated, “Today’s roadway safety grants will deliver funding directly to 354 communities and continue the important work we’re doing to reduce traffic fatalities to the only number that’s acceptable: zero.”
For the Little Rock Safe Streets for Everyone initiative, which aims to upgrade roads, the city of Little Rock received a $25 million grant. According to USDOT officials, the project would attempt to include safety features like bicycle lanes, roundabouts, and improved lighting.
The Dean’s Trail Phase IIIB project, which will complete the trail and keep bikes and pedestrians apart from traffic, has been granted more than $5 million to the city of Springdale.
More than $2 million will be awarded, according to USDOT officials, for seven more safety planning and demonstration projects in and around Arkansas.
