Officer from Cabot shoots man in hand; Arkansas State Police investigating
Cabot, Arkansas – Following a gunshot on Wednesday that involved a Cabot officer, the Arkansas State Police are conducting an investigation.
According to ASP troopers, Cabot police responded to a nearby hospital at 12:11 a.m. after getting a call reporting that Douglas Nutter, 51, was involved in a fight.
Officers claim that Nutter drove into a home on Shady Lane in Lonoke County after refusing to stop driving when told to do so. Nutter continued to disobey orders, according to officials, which prompted officers to fire their firearms, injuring him in the hand.
Nutter was transferred to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to ASP officials. Later, he was let go and brought to the Cabot Police Department.
According to troopers, he is accused of felony escape, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and careless driving.
