Over 100,000 Arkansans lose power due to Sunday afternoon wind damage

Little Rock, Arkansas – Over 100,000 Arkansans were left without power as heavy thunderstorms and devastating winds swept across the Natural State on Sunday.
After 2 p.m. on Sunday, storms began to develop in north Arkansas, and by early evening, they had reached central Arkansas. Around 5 to 7 PM, the most of the severe weather passed over Pulaski County.
A Tornado Warning was issued for portions of the counties of Faulkner, Lonoke, and Pulaski shortly after 5:30 on Sunday, and soon after that, people started sending in pictures of the damage.
Along with the hail, the storms also brought down trees and power lines. Little Rock experienced wind gusts of 69 mph, and Cabot recorded a wind gust of 76 mph just before 6 o’clock in the afternoon.
According to PowerOutage.US, nearly 148,000 Arkansans are still without power as of 8:02 PM.
Over 55,000 people currently live in Pulaski County without electricity, compared to over 33,000 in Lonoke County and over 13,000 in Faulkner County.
