Parts of Arkansas may have snow this week

Arkansas – For some of Arkansas, snow is likely late Tuesday or early Wednesday. The areas northwest of and near the I-30 and 67/167 corridors will have the best probability of snowfall.

Due to the absence of Arctic air prior to the arrival of Tuesday’s system, this event will favor higher elevations.

By early Tuesday afternoon, rain is anticipated to start over the state. By late afternoon, high elevations in the Ouachita and Ozark mountains may begin to experience a transition to snow.

Snow levels will decrease during the evening and into the night, covering lower altitudes in western and northern Arkansas. In central Arkansas, rain may combine with or turn to snow before the precipitation stops.

For the duration of the storm, temperatures are predicted to be one or two degrees above freezing, but strong snowfall rates could cause some accumulation in the northwest portion of Arkansas.

At this time, northwest, north central, and western Arkansas appear to have the best chances of receiving accumulating snow.
