The Central Arkansas Salvation Army is still in need of volunteers and financial support

Little Rock, Arkansas – The Salvation Army staff may be the only ones who have been working as hard as Santa’s elves during this charity season.

They not only assist in delivering gifts to hundreds of families in Arkansas, but their job extends beyond the bells we usually see around the holidays.

On Monday, vehicles gathered to retrieve bicycles, coats, and toys that were part of the Angel Tree offerings.

“We are very much seen at Christmas time with the Angel Trees and our Red Kettles. What most people don’t understand is that we do this kind of work 365 days a year,” said Major Bill Mockabee, the commander of the Salvation Army of Central Arkansas.

Thanks to people who picked up an Angel Tree card, more than 1,000 families will be blessed with gifts for their children this year.

The value of each gift bag given to a child is approximately $150.

Four hundred of those Angel Tree cards went missing this year. To make up the difference, the Salvation Army has been removing approximately $30,000 from the Red Kettle fund.

“Our Red Kettle really sets the pace for what we can do not only around Christmas, but 365 days a year with our homeless prevention pieces and making sure people can pay their rent and utilities so they don’t become homeless,” said Major Mockabee.

Your assistance is currently required by a nonprofit organization that is committed to assisting others.

They are requesting volunteers to help staff the red kettles around the neighborhood as well as donations for the kettles.
