To modernize the airport, Jonesboro will receive $5 million
Jonesboro, Arkansas – A significant surge is anticipated for the Jonesboro Airport.
The city will receive $5 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation for an extension of the airport’s runway, Mayor Harold Copenhaver stated on Thursday, December 22.
According to a press release, U.S. Senator John Boozman and his staff collaborated with Copenhaver and the city of Jonesboro to secure money for the extension.
“We look forward to working with our entire DC delegation because as Jonesboro grows, our transportation needs will continue to expand, and this funding will pay off economic dividends in the near and distant future,” Copenhaver said.
The funding was a part of the end-of-year spending plan that the Senate approved on Thursday and which is anticipated to receive the House of Representatives blessing on Friday, December 23. It is predicted that President Biden will sign it into law.
