A family from Arkansas speaks out hours after their grandson was shot and murdered
North Little Rock, Arkansas – A family spoke out less than 24 hours after their loved one was shot and died in North Little Rock.
There are cries of praise heard in a room full of people, but one is absent.
“I’m just wondering Lord, how am I going to make it through this,” grandmother, Davora Cox said.
Davora Cox used to go to her grandson’s concerts every weekend, but that’s now a distant memory.
NLRPD responded to a gunshot in the 1900 block of Poplar Street on Saturday night, where one person was murdered.
Davon Russell Maurice Jordan, 21, was identified by his family.
“He was my baby, and I don’t know what I’m going to do without him because I am used to seeing him every day and night,” Cox said.
Davora Cox stated that she assisted in the raising of Davon and that he was actively interested in the choir at their church.
“A friend among many, everybody loved that he could sing and they loved that he was at church,” Cox stated.
They realize there is a significant piece missing as they go through images, reflecting on all of the moments.
“He was a vital part of us whether that was a church, family functions, gatherings, the energy he had around was you just big joy,” cousin, Jerico Stewart said.
Davora said she knows her religion will get her through as their pastors delivered words of encouragement to cease the bloodshed.
“I have been telling the Lord all day, you know it’s hurting me, but I am your child, and I know you are going to help me get through this,” Cox said.
We are still waiting for the police to establish the victim’s identity.
This investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information should contact authorities.
