A four-week closure is planned for North Rodney Parham Road

Little Rock, Arkansas – Starting on Monday, April 15, the southbound lane of North Rodney Parham Road between Buff Lane and Pleasant Valley Drive will be closed for construction.

“Rodney Parham is a highly used street, and it was only two lanes in each direction,” Little Rock Public Works Assistant Direct Maneesh Krishnan said. “It needed to be widened for a long time, so we’re widening it to four lanes, and it will also have bike lanes on it.”

There will be alternatives for detours for nearby motorists.

To return to North Rodney Parham Road, drivers heading south will be redirected to Valley Club Circle, where they will turn south on Valley Club Circle and then turn onto Pleasant Valley Drive.

Until work on the west side of North Rodney Parham is finished, northbound traffic will continue to use the current northbound lane. Drivers will now be diverted to North Rodney Parham Road’s future southbound lane.

For two years, Little Rock drivers have been subjected to traffic jams and construction delays as a result of the Rodney Parham Road Reconstruction Project, which began in the spring of 2022.

“There have been challenges, mainly because utilities have been in the way, and those utility relocations have taken time,” Krishnan said. “We’ve been working with our utility companies to get those relocations done. There have also been weather delays, but we’re trying to do our best.”

The temporary northbound lane will be used to enable homeowners of Fairway Drive, Happy Valley Drive, Tahoe Lane, and other communities access to their houses from the south.

Krishnan stated that in order to facilitate as much as possible, construction workers are relocating trash cans for simpler pickup and ensuring that drives are accessible to residents.

It is been requested that drivers use caution when passing through the region.

“Safety is most important for commuters and our construction workers,” Krishnan said. “Keep an eye out for signs, follow the instructions and drive slowly.”
