Conway author recounts his family’s experience with heartache and resilience

Conway, Arkansas – A Conway author recounts his family’s tale of heartache and resiliency in what is truly a labor of love for the public.
In Conway on Saturday, Ronnie Williams conducted a book signing for his most recent book, “Markham Street,” which was about the death of his brother in police custody more than 60 years ago.
Conway company shuts down, leaving nearly 100 workers jobless.
He also talks about his parent’s love for their kids and their lifelong pursuit of racial justice, including the fact that 20-year-old veteran Marvin Williams passed away while in police custody.
“We have to work to prevent those kids of things from happening in the future,” Williams said. “So that’s part of the takeaway that I hope people will have when they read the book.”
After 30 years of service at the University of Central Arkansas, where he held the positions of assistant dean of students and director of minority affairs, Ronnie Williams recently announced his retirement. His honorary student center bears his name.
