Family welcomes neighbors to its farm

Jonesboro, Arkansas – A family in Jonesboro opens their property and gives back to the neighborhood.

The Rougeau family has owned Rolling Oak Farm for fifty years. The farm has a lot of trees for many years. property owner Kevin Rougeau said he and his wife had always wanted to modify something about their property. A corn labyrinth, they both agreed, would be ideal for the farm.

A trip to a corn maze in Memphis more than 20 years ago served as the couple’s inspiration.

“It’s about bringing people that haven’t lived this life to the farm,” said Rougeau.

Rougeau was able to bring a corn maze to his farm after two years of work clearing woods and planting corn, realizing a dream he had had for more than 20 years.

Just over three acres in size, the corn maze offers scavenger hunts to those who enter.

“They can, you know, smell the corn, touch it, hear the wind blow as the tassels move,” he said.

Rougeau also made sure to include additional family-friendly activities like a petting zoo and a pumpkin patch.

For those who enjoy the thrill of the fright, Rolling Oaks Farms is also bringing in scares this year. In the next years, he wants to expand it.

But it also involves giving back, which goes beyond simply uniting the neighborhood. In the spring, the farm will plant a garden in collaboration with various churches.

“We’re donating that to all these people and they’re actually going to grow it, harvest it, and can it,” he said. “It’s about life on the farm, and that’s what it’s all about.”

Up to November 30th, Rolling Oak Farms will be open.
